STRATEGIC PLAN 2015 -2020

 Core Ideology: Lead the transformation of the dental hygiene profession to improve the public’s oral and overall health.

Vision Statement: Dental hygienists are integrated into the healthcare delivery system as essential primary care providers to expand access to oral health care.

MEMBERSHIP GOAL

THE DENTAL HYGIENE COMMUNITY WILL UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF MDHA MEMBERSHIP AND CHOOSE TO BELONG

Objective Increase our relevance to members, dental hygiene students and potential members
1. Strategy Promote knowledge and utilization of ADHA/MDHA services and benefits (ALL COUNCILS)
Action Plans ·      Update and enhance website (ALL COUNCILS)

  • Increase member value by developing members only link         (ALL COUNCILS)
  • Develop and distribute via social media, and other avenues the services and benefits of ADHA/MDHA for membership. (CMS)

·      Utilize the Internet through Facebook, and other social media avenues to reach out to Hygienists (CPR)

2. Strategy Foster relationships within the DH Community (CMS, CPR, CER, CPH)
Action Plans ·      Provide ADHA/MDHA presentation at 8 DH (9 locations) programs (CMS, CER)

·      Educator’s Meeting at Annual ADHA/MDHA Conference (CER)

  • Create and maintain a list of PHDH’s for the purpose of providing continued networking opportunities (CPH, CMS, CER, CRP)
  • Hold DH October event(s) (CMS, CPR)
3. Strategy Increase student awareness of ADHA/MDHA role in the dental hygiene profession and enhance student relationships (CMS, CER, CPR, COA)
Action Plans ·      Offer scholarship to attend ADHA annual session to 2 graduating students (CMS)

·      Provide an academic scholarship to a graduating student (CER)

  • Provide Mary Dole academic scholarship to a student enrolled in a MS program (CER)
  • Encourage student participation at ADHA/MDHA events such as Lobby Day, The Conference, DH Month (CMS, CER)
Objective Increase membership and retention
1. Strategy Develop and implement life-long learning opportunities (CC,CPR, CMS, CER)

  • Create and maintain a database of courses and presenters allowing MDHA to sponsor CE courses throughout the Commonwealth (Conference on The Road) at the component level to reach those who cannot attend the Conference. (CC, CMS, CRP, CPR)

2. Strategy Position ADHA/MDHA to take the lead in establishing the education, regulation and practice of the Dental Hygiene Practitioner DHP (CER, CRP)

  • Educate membership about DHP (CRP, CER)
3. Strategy Identify, collect and utilize data that support professionalization. (CRP,CER, CPH)

  • Ongoing association activities to promote autonomy
Objective Increase the public’s direct access to dental hygienists
1. Strategy Support current and future PHDH’s. (CRP, CER, CPH, CC, CPR)

  • Provide access to PHDH via the MDHA website (CPH, CPR, CRP, CER,)
  • Encourage and promote all hygienists to develop and or participate in community service events. (All Councils)

Objective Effectively manage and increase resources to ensure a fiscally sound association
1. Strategy Enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency (All Councils)
Action Plans

 

·      Identify current and future infrastructure needs of the association
2. Strategy Identify and address any issues that would affect the maintenance of a strong and sound operating budget
Action Plans ·      Review all income and expense data monthly (All Councils)

·      Maintain regular contact with investment advisors (COA)

·      Annually set a budget with monthly reviews to not exceed annual income

and to allow for growth in investments(COA)
