What is Massachusetts Hy-PAC?
The Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Political Action Committee (MA Hy-PAC) is a voluntary, non-profit committee that pools campaign contributions from dental hygienists to donate funds to potential future legislators running for office in Massachusetts. The PAC supports the goals of the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Association, but operates independently and autonomously. MA Hy-PAC is not affiliated with any political party but supports individual candidates who align with dental hygienists’ interests.
The purpose of Massachusetts Hy-PAC is to:
- Assist dental hygienists and others in organizing for more effective political action and in fulfilling their civic responsibilities.
- Endorse candidates whose political principles align with the Massachusetts Dental Hygienists’ Association’s purposes, policies, and goals.
- Raise funds through PAC fundraising efforts.
- Donate to endorsed candidates.
- Provide volunteers to support campaign activities for endorsed candidates.
Voting alone isn’t enough, and lobbying alone isn’t enough
Legislation directly impacts the scope and future of dental hygiene practice through the decisions made by Massachusetts legislators. By supporting candidates who champion our efforts, we can secure positive outcomes for our profession.
